Jason and I went to see Maroon 5 also at the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series. It was pretty cool. We didn't go as early so you couldn't find us on TV, but that's okay, we like the extra sleep. We also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge with Jason's sisters that Sunday evening. It was a very beautiful sunset!

This morning (it was actually very bright for before 6am ahhhh... the long days of summer) Jason and I with his sister Camille and a friend Clark went to Bryant Park to catch part of the Live Concert Series with Good Morning America and see Boyz II Men. It was a just a 5 min. subway ride from our apartment so it was a pretty easy trip and it was a lot of fun. We were really tired afterwards, but it was well worth it! Boyz II Men ABC BBD!

It was a really fun trip, we did a lot in such a short amount of time. Just before we left we stopped by Harvard, Cambridge was beautiful, there were a lot of old houses there, big ones too. The library was ginormous and the grounds were so green. We wished we had more time to see things but we're glad we were able to do what we could. After this trip we realized that Jason and I have driven through 22 states together since we got married. We love road trips and after one year we have some spectacular memories that we have made and look forward to making more!

Freedom Trail Boston

Most of our time in Boston we spent walking the Freedom Trail. They have a red brick and painted red pavement in spots trail that you can follow around the city that leads you to different landmarks of historical importance. Bunker Hill and Old Ironsides were on the trail, also Old North Church where the lanterns were lite to signal to the riders (including the Paul Revere) that the Red Coats were coming. Also Faneuil Hall, Copp's and Granary burying ground where we saw many historical graves. Just off of the trail we ate at Warren Tavern, the oldest watering hole in Boston.

Shipyard

The shipyard was one of our favorite places. In dock was a battleship from WWII, an active duty ship that just got back from a mission in South America finding and destroying boats transporting narcotics. They had some slide show footage we saw, it was pretty neat to tour the boat. Then of course we saw the USS Constitution or Old Ironsides! That was really neat to see.

Bunker Hill

We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast in Charlestown, MA near Breed's Hill where the battle of Bunker Hill was fought. That was the first place that we stopped at on our jorney through Boston on the Freedom Trail. We climed the 200 something staircases to the top of the monument and had a beautiful view of the shipyard and all of Boston. There were some "red coats" giving a demonstration and telling some stories about the battle.

Rhode Island is a very beautiful state. We never really had looked at a map or thought about it, but it really is an island! It is full of lots of little islands and there are a lot of bays and rivers and lakes, it is so pretty there. The day we were there was perfect too, nice and sunny with a good sea breeze. The Astors, Vanderbilts, Oelrichs and a lot of other rich families built their "summer cottages" here in Newport, RI, they are called the Newport mansions but were only their summer homes, their homes in New York were much bigger. We toured the Vanderbilts (the Breakers) and Oelrichs (Rosecliff patterened after the palace at Versailles), we wanted to see the Astors (Beachwood mansion), but it was closed. The Breakers was really neat to see, it is 138,000 sq. ft.! Gloria Vanderbilt, who inherited the summer cottage kept it in good shape and the family gave it to the preservation society and the furniture is almost entirely origional. They had a children's cottage adjacent to the house that was pretty big too, Jason looks pretty normal size in the picture, but the other house was just so much bigger that you could tell it was just for the kids to play in. Rosecliff may look familiar to you, it is not as origional because the only heir to the house sold it for 21,000 and it was abandoned and damaged so a lot had to be restored.
